The eleventh annual BIGGEST little Theatre Festival at Brüka Theatre is a showcase for original theatre pieces featuring traditional and nontraditional performances created by local and regional performance artists. In order to support local theatre artists,  giving artists an accessible, affordable and supportive environment to produce and take a chance with original work while also giving audiences the experience of locally produced original work in a theatre festival style. Aligning with Brüka Theatre’s Mission:  To create and share the experience of innovative theatre, this small festival features performances in our downtown Sub-Bruka space. Each performance is 60 minutes in length or under and followed by a talk back.   Groups receive a portion of the ticket sales.

TWISTED  11.12.22 @ 2 PM

Written and Directed by Stephanie Lewis

A  Rollercoaster Dramedy of Five Short Plays Curated From A New Performance Collection.

TWISTED WILL BE FOLLOWED BY A TALK BACK WITH THE AUDIENCE & PLAYERS.

SYNOPSIS:  A philosophical, phony psychic, a hedonistic “hungry” husband, a wacky, warped wife, a harried, heartbroken hotline worker, a sinisterly shameless sister.  These are just a few of the intriguing characters you’ll meet on the Bruka stage in the five short plays curated from the new show, TWISTED. All unrelated to each other, yet all intrinsically linked by their twisted personalities and their “didn’t see that coming” twist endings. Follow their fateful fallouts at the Biggest Little New Works & Theater Festival on November 12, and see the full performance at RLT on December 21, 2022.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:  Stephanie Debra Lewis is a new playwright credited with “Oops, You’re On Mute!” — the first musical set in pandemic times which spotlights a divorcing couple forced to quarantine together in a tiny apartment for the sake of their children. Look for it in 2023! Stephanie has written regularly for the comedy section of the Huffington Post, as well as various print publications, online humor columns, and freelance blogs. Her novel “Lullabies & Alibis” is available on Amazon. “TWISTED,” Stephanie’s collection of ten-minute shorts, is currently slated to run on both coasts including a two-week stint in NYC next Feb. She resides in Reno and is the proud mother of six.

BLOOD LUST & LOVE-40 11.12.22 @ 4 PM

Written & Directed by Bob Gabrielli

A Comedy Double-Feature

FOLLOWED BY A TALK BACK WITH THE AUDIENCE & PLAYERS.

SYNOPSIS:  Sparks fly for two lonely-hearts during a routine interaction at the blood bank in Blood Lust, the first of two 10-minute comedies. Will Whitney (Cathy Gabrielli) and Bill (Bob Gabrielli) overcome the disappointments of past relationships and take a chance again? The second production, Love-40, involves irascible, aging tennis pro Lonnie Dexter (Darcy Lenardson) who meets a young ball girl (Tullia Rosa) up against a different kind of opponent. In between points, tantrums and change-overs, an unexpected bond develops.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:  Reno native Bob Gabrielli has written/acted/directed in local theater for the past 40 years. His early one-acts, Only Human and Never-Never Land, represented Reno Little Theater in statewide competitions. His full-length play Excerpts, was part of RLT’s 2013-14 regular season. In 2018, The Ten-Minute Marriage Review was selected for performance by Truckee Community Theater’s Ten-Minute Play Festival. Last year, Life Loafers, was performed at Brüka’s New Works Festival. And Love-40 was selected as a finalist in the 2022 Stage It! 10-Minute Play Festival at the Centers for the Arts in Bonita Springs, Florida.
