Bruka Theatre

Brüka Theatre began in 1992 as a small group of professional theatre artists who combined their artistic vision in the pursuit of high quality theatre.  The company initially produced educational audience participation theatre for children, in the format of original adaptations of classic fairy tales, which later developed into our current format of original theatre for children that is written and performed by members of the company.  In 1996 Brüka Theatre expanded its operations to include contemporary, classic and original productions for adult and family audiences. The combined success from these ventures enabled the company to establish it’s featured location in the Masonic Building on the corner of First and Virginia in the heart of Reno’s downtown Arts District.  Renaissance Projects (a regional/original touring theatre company) officially merged with Brüka in 1999.  The company opened Sub-Brüka as a second performance space in the basement of the Masonic Building in 2000.

Now celebrating the 31st season (THIRTY WONDERFUL) in downtown Reno. Brüka Theatre is a leader in the region, recognized for its innovative productions, exceptionally talented artists and acclaimed Theatre for Children series since its founding in 1992. Central to Brüka is the commitment to the re-investigation of contemporary and classic plays and developing new plays within Brüka’s Artistic Collective, a group that includes winners of the Nevada Arts Council and Sierra Arts Foundation artist grants and nine local best actor honors.  Brüka Theatre is a non-equity, not-for-profit member theatre company of the national TCG (Theatre Communications Group).  Brüka was named “Best Theatre Company” by Reno News and Review for twenty-one years running. Brüka Theatre has produced over2100 shows in our downtown Reno location.
